Tycho Brahe was a brilliant Danish astronomer and a devout Protestant Christian. In 1576, King Frederick II of Denmark granted him the island of Hven, solar model of Tycho. In 1588, Reimers added an additional surname Ursus (bear) to his name and wrote a book based on the Tychonic model.

Tychonic system, scheme for the structure of the solar system put forward in 1583 by the Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe. Tycho Brahe’s model A Danish astronomer Tycho Brahe (1546-1601) admired Copernicus’ work especially for his mathematical solutions. He believed, however, that the elegance of the heliocentric model was too high a price for abandoning the idea of an immovable Earth. Tycho advocated an alternative to the Ptolemaic geocentric system: A "geo-heliocentric" system now known as the Tychonic system, which he developed in the late 1570s. In such a system, the sun, moon, and stars circle a central Earth, while the five planets orbit the Sun. (Gingerich,O, 1977, P 78) Figure(1) Shows Brahe's Model of Explaintion The Tychonian planetary model The Tychonian planetary model, conceived by Tycho around 1583, was an unconvincing attempt to reintroduce geocentrism in the "Copernican planetary system." From his observations of the " 1572 (super) nova and "1577 comet," Tycho was convinced of the falsity of the Ptolemaic system. Tycho Brahe drog sina egna slutsatser av denna, innebärande att han i sin modell behöll jorden i mitten med solen och månen roterande runt denna och övriga planeter roterande runt solen. Hans argument var att med en heliocentrisk världsbild skulle stjärnorna skenbart röra sig i en ellips under året, vilket inte observerades.

During his life, Tycho Brahe did not accept Nicolaus Copernicus’s model of the universe. He attempted to combine it with the Ptolemaic model (developed by ancient astronomer Claudius Ptolemy), which had never been proved accurate. Tycho advocated an alternative to the Ptolemaic geocentric system: A "geo-heliocentric" system now known as the Tychonic system, which he developed in the late 1570s.

Lived 1546 - 1601. Tycho Brahe was a larger than life aristocratic astronomer whose observations became the foundation for a new understanding of the solar system and ultimately gravity. Brought up by an uncle who had kidnapped him, Tycho defied both his natural and foster parents to become a scientist rather than a nobleman at […] Tycho Brahe (1546 – 1601), was a Danish nobleman known for his accurate and comprehensive astronomical and planetary observations. One of his greatest achievements is the observation (naked eye) of the SN 1572 supernova on 11 November 1572 which had unexpectedly appeared in the constellation Cassiopeia. Tycho did not decode the laws governing the solar system, but his work and data allowed for Kepler to make his great breakthrough. The lesson we take from Tycho Brahe is that data is the key. Track your data and you can throw ideas at it in the future.
